Dark Green Fritillary…..

Went on a mini adventure to find roosting butterflies early in the morning, unfortunately it wasn’t very successful due to the weather, last year there were lots around, from a long search I did find this fab Dark Green Fritillary (not sure who the coloured blind person was who named it) actually if you look carefully at the wings you can see the dark green for which it is named.

It’s not been a good year at least in the spots that I go to that are normally awash with butterfly’s and dragonfly’s again I think due to the weather, you can still see the water droplet on this one.

Starting to warm up …….

It did cheer up in the afternoon and got to see a few more butterflies out, there will have to be another mini adventure soon to see if I can find some more of these wonderful insects.

Meadow Brown a tough butterfly to capture on camera as they are very flighty and a skipper, which one I’m not sure, so if you know leave a comment thanks.
